Hamilton Leithauser (formerly of The Walkmen)
"I’m running for Congress because right now our representative in this district is a used car salesman who only listens to corporate donors, not constituents. He has voted to cut his own taxes, raise everyone else's taxes, wreck everyone's healthcare, and explode the deficit.” said Oliver.
“We don't want corporate welfare. We don't want a wall. We don't want fear-mongering and paranoia. We want healthcare for everybody, clean air and water, good public schools that lift our kids up, equality for everyone under the law, humane immigration reform, and a country we can be proud of--and we have the chance to get it done if we pull together.”

Meet-and-greet and Q&A with Wanderlust Instructor and Democratic US Congressional Candidate, Julie Oliver! What would the world look like if more of our elected leaders approached service to their communities with heart forward? What can yogic principles of balance, honor, respect, and courage teach us about the way we engage in today’s culture of civic engagement, in practice? Join Julie and the Wanderlust community in this forum and discussion on what “heart-forward” leadership should look like, and, how yogic tools and principles informed her journey along the way and will continue to do so on her path ahead. Julie holds a law degree, has background expertise in tax policy, and works as a successful finance executive in the healthcare industry--but it’s Julie’s training as Wanderlust instructor that inspired her and gave her the courage to step up and declare her candidacy for Congress. Join us for a lively discussion on how we as practitioners can bring those skills, tools, and principles to bear facilitates a deeper understanding of our experience and place in Texas, the country, and the world.
Join me in Steiner Ranch and go on a canvasing block walk in Mesa North. Kids are welcome.
During the block walk, you will visit Democratic houses in pairs and talk to them about the importance of voting in the upcoming election. 2018 is our chance to push back against Trump by voting out Roger Williams and Ted Cruz, and get rid of our Texas House representative Paul Workman. But we can only do that if people go to the polls and vote!
If you don't want to do the block walk, feel free to meet the candidates at 3pm and skip the block-walk.
For information on where to meet up, join the Steiner Ranch, Mansfield and Comanche Democrats Facebook group and RSVP here: https://www.facebook.com/events/315541028922994/
